Upcoming Youth Events


2010 GREENE COUNTY FISH and GAME YOUTH PROGRAM

All Youth events are open to the general public, except fishing derbies and Youth hunting. Events are to be held at the Greene County Fish and Game on Union Rd., Xenia, Oh.

Starting times for Rifle and Archery will be 3PM to 5PM.

June 12th               .22 Rifle Match :
Times are 3-5 PM.  Front resting bags no wider than 5 inches front to back, no rear bags, shoulder mount only. All shots to be aimed by the children. Minimal gun handling by non-youth, but aid may be given in loading and unloading. 10 cartridges maximum in magazines. All Range Commander's orders will be followed at "Cease Fire." Hearing protection required. One practice and one scoring target provided to each child. Try to bring your own ammo. Loaner equipment is available. Instruction available. We deduct 10 points for scope use on a ten shot target. 3 age groups (5-8, 9-12, 13-18). Matches are to be shot on the 25 yard line. Awards will be given in 3 places for each age group.   Youth BB-Gun Match:
Time 3-5 PM, age 8 and under. Shot on the 15 yard pistol range. No scopes or rear bags. Front bag maximum of 5", front to back. Aid may be given child. One Award will be given at each shoot. Bring Ammo. NO PELLETS. BB-guns are available.

June 19th              Casting Competition:
During Youth Fishing Derby. Non members may not fish. 3 age groups (3-7, 8-10, 11-15). ALL competitions end 1/2 hour after Fishing Derbies end. Casting plugs are to be used. Awards will be given in each age group for 3 places.

June 25th              Family Campfire and Camp:
Set-up starts about 6 PM at the Primitive Rendezvous area. One group campfire in this area. Food, drinks, games and prizes for the kids. Overnight camping not required, but encouraged.

June 26th              Jakes Day
"Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics, & Sportsmanship"... A day of Outdoor Skills for 17 and under. Under the direction of ODNR.

July 10th               Rifle

July 31st                Field Archery
Times are 3-5 PM. 3 age groups (5-8, 9-12, 13-18). No Crossbows. Loaner equipment available. Instruction and scoring by the committee only. Shots taken at 10 yds. for 8 and under. 10 and 20 yds for 9-12. 13-18 will shoot 20 and 30 yds. Target bales and silhouettes are used. Awards in all age groups, for 3 places. Yardages may be adjusted as per ability of the youth, as determined by committee. 

August 7th           Casting
